3M Skin Prep Abrasion Tape 2236

The 3M™ 2236 Skin Prep Abrasion Tape is used for optimal and gentle skin preparation for the best possible abrasion quality.

The abrasion band allows for gentle removal of the top layer of skin that prevents good conductivity of ENG/ECG electrodes. Studies have demonstrated significantly reduced skin resistance through the use of the abrasion band. Skin irritation is minimized by correct handling of the sandpaper material:

1. Tear off a piece about 2cm long
2. Stick this piece with the self-adhesive backing onto a finger
3. Lightly rub the area where you want to stick the electrode
4. Stick the electrode onto the prepared area

Tip: With wet gel electrodes, clip the electrode lead wire on before attaching the electrode. This prevents the gel from being pushed under the adhesive surface when clipping it on after the electrode has been applied, preventing the electrode from coming off during the measurement. It is also more comfortable for the patient if no pressure is placed on their soft tissue when attaching the lead wire.
