Test age-appropriate directional hearing using headphones – without expensive equipment. The RVF is an innovative tool for testing directional hearing—especially in the context of AVWS diagnostics. Instead of using free-field loudspeakers, the test is conducted using headphones.

Even very small angles. The various angles of incidence were recorded using artificial head technology. This allows testing of significantly smaller angles – up to two degrees – compared to the traditional directional hearing system at the Mainz children's table.

Normal values for children. The RVF is currently the only test procedure with reference values for children aged six to twelve. This helps to quickly classify individual performance as pathological, average, below average, or above average.

User-friendly and child-friendly

Get results quickly and easily. With RVF, the test subject indicates where they heard the signal simply by pointing to their right or left ear or nose – a highly simple method that even six-year-olds can easily master. Furthermore, the short test duration of only two to five minutes is particularly suitable for young test subjects.

Automated procedure. After starting at +/- 90°, the signal angles decrease with each trial. If three consecutively correctly located sounds are detected, the next smaller angle is used. If there are three consecutive errors or four errors at one angle, the test is terminated. The previous angle serves as a measure of directional hearing.
